After Your Massage

After Your Massage

  • Drink lots of water. Drinking water helps in the elimination of cellular waste, which is increased during your massage.
  • Take a bath in Epsom Salt. Epsom salts will help you to continue your relaxation experience. A salt bath will also assist in relaxing your muscles and draw any soreness out. It's recommended to use up to 2 lbs. of salt per bath. Lighted candles, soft music and essential oils in the bath water will add to your continued relaxation.
  • Use ice packs on any area that is tender, sore or inflamed.
    • When using an ice pack, make sure it is wrapped in a towel. Do not place it directly on your skin. Place the ice pack on the area that is sore for 20 minutes. Remove and repeat every 20 minutes for relief.
    • Leaving the ice pack on for a short time will stimulate circulation to the area and reduce inflammation. To keep the ice pack on for longer will be detrimental.
  • Do not do any strenuous exercise immediately after a massage, such as jogging, aerobic or any other physically active work or sport. Exercise the next day is encouraged.
  • Some people can experience headaches and nausea following a massage. This is due to the increase in circulation and the release of toxins and cellular waste. Drinking water will alleviate this.
  • Since emotional memories are stored in the muscles, it is not uncommon for emotional releases to occur after a treatment.
